If a discussion concerning "redemptive violence" is your pint of ale, then you might enjoy a two-part series on the subject by blogger and professor Mark Elrod. It is quite interesting. You can check it out by sauntering over to this link.
In a thoroughly enjoyable and insightful essay, Joseph Bottum over at First Things notes the rather empty faddishness of beyondism. Check out his 'Beyond "Beyondism.'" Bottum exhibits exactly the sort of perspicacity I wish I possessed.

Re: Bottum
Yeah.
I'm perfectly willing to embrace "beyondism" provided that there is a frank, honest and philosophical give and take about the issues. Not to repeat myself in your comments, but it seems that such is not possible. One accepts the orthodoxy or one does not.
In the final analysis, logic and reason mean nothing. It is only the embrace of the "acceptable."
Cheers.
Bill,
Your entry into the discussion at Elrod's reminded me of the crusty old gunslinger, with the dust of many a trail clinging to his boots, entering the noisy saloon full of "young guns." While the proprietor did acknowledge your presence, the silence was otherwise deafening.
And yes, you're right, there is a stunning amount of reductionism that occurs there among some of its frequent commentators. There is fundamentalism galore on both the right and the left these days.
