But note what one person of the town says:

Mayor Ferd Crone of Leeuwarden, 87 miles (140 kilometers) north of Amsterdam, told local media he had been unaware of the collection's existence and was surprised it was gone.

Ah, hah! One would expect as much from a man called Ferd. Ferd Crone.

Ferd's remark reminds me of a quote (truly) highlighted on the front page of my local newspaper a few years ago:

"It's a lifelong dream I never knew I had."
