"When citizens do act in their public selves as though their faith matters, they risk not only ridicule, but actual punishment." -- Stephen Carter, The Culture of Disbelief
Agreed. When you live your life in agreement with the command to love not the world, the world at the very least gives you the cold shoulder of ridicule and at its zenith expresses its hatred of God in open hostility towards you. This present world is really quite demanding of our love. Ahh, but our Lord is a jealous God and commands sole allegiance to Him. "You shall have no other gods before me." Well...you see the problem.
